Zone of Sweet Air is a 3rd level priest spell only usable by clerics and paladins. It dispels cloud-based effects in the area (meaning in the entire current map; the caster does not have to stand inside the cloud effect).

Jaheira and Cernd may cast this spell in all games except the original Baldur's Gate (since this spell didn't exist yet), despite it normally being restricted from druids.

Description[]

Zone of Sweet Air repels all noxious elements from poisonous vapors (including magically created vapors such as Cloudkill). This spell will dismiss all clouds in the entire area that the caster is currently in. The spell offers no protection against poisonous vapors created by a dragon's breath weapon (such as the chlorine gas of a green dragon).

Zone of Sweet Air instantly cancels the following clouds:[1]

Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting and the Topaz Dragon Breath from The Black Pits II's third battle in tier 4 can also be cancelled as their projectile travels to its destination, if the Zone of Sweet Air spell is timed right.

Note[]

A dragon's Wing Buffet ability incorporates the Zone of Sweet Air into its effects, so use of this ability clears the same clouds as the spell does.

Spell Revisions mod has removed "Zone of Sweet Air" from the game and is replaced by two new spells. The first is one is available as a level 2 divine spell available only to Druid/Ranger/Shaman classes. The second is a level 3 divine spell available only to Cleric/Paladin classes. They are similar, but not exactly the same. See below:

This spell creates a severe blast of air that originates from the caster, affecting all enemies in its path. Those within 6 feet must save vs. breath or be blown back by the force of the gust and knocked unconscious for 1 round. In addition, this spell will disperse all clouds (including magically created vapors such as Cloudkill) in the caster’s current area.

Duration: Instant
Casting Time: 1

Note: The SR mod adds several cloud projectiles that can be cleared by the Gust of Wind spell. It has increased utility compared to the vanilla spell version.
