Zhadroth is a lich trapped in Kanaglym, in another plane of existence. If using one of three charges of the Spectacles of Spectacle, one can pull him into the Prime Material Plane.

If released, one is rewarded with a Ring of Regeneration, if killed also the Robe of Arcane Aptitude. Keep in mind that the conditions for the two dialogue options that actually start a fight with Zhadroth to appear are very restrictive (the rest of the party members don't matter, as the game checks for 'player1', who's always the bhaalspawn, even if party order is changed):

-The first dialogue option that starts a fight can only be accessed by non-blackguard clerics and paladins of any alignment.

-The second option to start a fight can only be accessed by non-clerics/paladins with 24 or more Lore.

This means that blackguard bhaalspawn (as well as any non-cleric/paladin lacking a mean to raise their lore) have no way to pick a fight with the lich, as it will teleport away as soon as the dialogue is over.

After being released an Endless Watcher, who stood watch for centuries, will appear across the bridge over the chasm. Greatly angered over the freed lich, it will attack. Unless told Zhadroth is destroyed, then it will reward the Astral Crossbow.

A battle with the Watcher ends by Zhadroth trapping it with a spell, and departing with words mentioning being even with his liberators, and if Gorion's Ward should ever ascend, that they'd look kindly upon the pain soon to be inflicted upon the betrayers of H'Catha.

Zhadroth is vulnerable to the The Secret Revealed from Chapter Eight, functionally disabling his spellcasting and protections.
