, is a cloak which offers protection from magical means to detect invisible creatures and objects, like the spell Non-Detection, but for as long as the cloak is worn, which may come in handy for scouts of the party. It has a weight of 3 lbs. This item appears in Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and it will also appear in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition.

Description[]

Cloak of non-detection: 'Whispers of Silence'. Reportedly created for a lineage of the greatest burglars ever to walk the night, this cloak was a apparent success. No record exists of previous owners

Where it is obtained from[]

In Baldur's Gate, this cloak can be obtained from a tasloi in Cloakwood Lodge after Chapter Four begins.

In Baldur's Gate II, this cloak can be obtained from Sorcerous Amon on the second floor of the Den of the Seven Vales in Waukeen's Promenade, even from the first chapter. Either Amon and his fellow goons must be killed by the party, or it must be pickpocketed from him.

Gameplay[]

Unlike the Non-Detection spell, the Non-Detection provided by this cloak is not of the Illusionary protections type.

As this cloak has a differently coded Non-Detection effect than the spell, and as the cloak provides the user with an "always on" power, this means that the cloak has some benefits for certain player classes and item users.

A player with the equipped Staff of the Magi will remain invisible even if subjected to any invisibility removing spell effect, such as Oracle, True Sight or True Seeing.

The same benefit can be had from invisibility applied from the Dagger of the Star.

A player who has the ability to become hidden through Stealth, such as a rogue, Monk or Bounty Hunter will gain additional protection with this cloak equipped. These classes/kits who are successfully hidden will resist being exposed from spell casting opponents using spells such as Oracle and True sight.

This cloak is superior in every way to the spell version of Non-Detection.

It does not protect against enemies who can innately See the invisible.
