A Wand of Fear can strike terror in the hearts of enemies within 20 feet of the target, unless a save vs Spell is made with a +2 bonus. Range is 60 feet, despite statistics claiming 100 feet. Allies are not affected, and some enemies are immune to fear. Unless recharged by a merchant, the wand is destroyed when the last charge is expended. Unlike most wands, this one can be used by both arcane and divine casters.

Description[]

A Wand of Fear strikes terror into the heart of any creature within its target area. This panic is not universal, however, as the stout of heart have been known to resist its magic. Like all wands, the Wand of Fear can only be used a limited number of times before it is destroyed.

Gameplay[]

Each charge of this wand is aimed at a location in range which will launch a projectile (No. 170) which will not affect the party.

Non-party creatures in the Area of Effect are exposed to a Panic effect, requiring a saving throw vs. spell (with a +2 bonus). A failed save will cause panic for 100 seconds. The spell effect is of the Enchanter spell school with the secondary type classification of "Disabling".

The wand's spell Power level is 4. Magic resistance can block its effects.

Any creature that fails its save will have special 3D graphic effect play over the creature (face on ground - horror), as well as a lighting effect (SHAIR) and color fade. A sound effect also plays.
