Vortex Spiders are rare Spiders that somewhat resemble Phase Spiders, however they have a much more powerful attack.
Gameplay[]
Vortex spiders have one of the most deadly attacks of all spiders.
For purposes of what it can hit, its attack is considered a magical +1 weapon. It deals 2d4 piercing damage with a range of 1 foot at a speed factor of 3. In Baldur's Gate II:
Shadows of Amn (2000)
This icon indicates content from the original Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn campaign. damage is adjusted for Strength bonus, but only if the creature's strength is increased through magical means such as a Strength spell.
Each successful hit upon a living target forces a save vs. death at a penalty of 2 to negate instant death. The attack is considered natural/non-magical for bypassing resistance. Even if the save is made, the target still suffers 20 hit points of Poison damage unless immune (no save, natural/non-magical).
Vortex spiders have a 15% magic resistance and are immune to webs and entanglement.[1]
