Vidyadhar is a Rakshasa who can be met in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear.
Encounter[]
As part of Zaviak's Vision Quest, he can be found in the Underground River, specifically in the storeroom just north of the entrance where you encounter Gurgle and Floss. If drawn into the material realm, he lectures the player on the folly of summoning powerful extraplanar beings, and then offers them the chance to gain a magical item if they can answer his riddle.
If correct answer is chosen or Dynaheir or Edwin are asked to answer, he rewards the party with the Modron Heart and then teleports away. If riddle is failed, he will attack.
Combat[]
This is an incredibly difficult fight. Upon combat beginning, his Contingency will trigger a Stoneskin spell, which will generally give him time to get off his Protection From Magical Weapons, which combined with natural non-magical immunity to normal weapons and spells of 7th level or less, makes him essentially invulnerable for 4 rounds, barring a successful Dispel Magic. During this time, he will cast Web, Stinking Cloud, and Sunfire, with a better than average chance of also hitting Gurgle and Floss, if they are still alive. He also has a Mirror Image and additional Stoneskin for defense.
Once reduced to half health, he will stop hostility, drop the Modron Heart, award 5,000 XP, and then nearly instantly teleport away. While it is technically possible for a party with sufficiently high damage output can kill him before the teleport, it is fairly unlikely. Still, if accomplished, he will drop two additional items on death; a Scroll of Protection from Magic and a Scimitar +3.
His spell immunity does not include from items such as Potion of Fire Breath, The Victor (ring) or Screaming Bagpipes (he is easily killed with several Potions of Fire Breath).
