Varscona (Varscona +2 in-game), also known as Long Sword +2, is an enchanted long sword which deals one extra cold damage on-hit.
Locations[]
Baldur's Gate[]
- In Baldur's Gate this unique sword is equipped(can't be stolen) by Greywolf. He's met near the Nashkel Mines. Depending on Gorion's Ward's choice of whether or not to help Prism in his quest, the weapon might be acquired after a fight.
Siege of Dragonspear[]
- If Gorion's Ward is imported from Baldur's Gate into Siege of Dragonspear and has at least one point in the long sword weapon proficiency at a strength greater than four, Varscona is one of two possible weapons that can be acquired when starting the campaign; the other one would be the Burning Earth.[1]
Gladiators of Thay[]
- In the Black Pits II this weapon is sold by the Weapon Merchant from Tier 1 on. (×1)
Shadows of Amn[]
Note: The weapon is already referenced in the original Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn to be imported – however, the according file isn't implemented and was only activated by the Enhanced Edition.

- He receives a standard Long Sword +2 instead, if Varscona came into the game via the importing scripts.[4]
- One instance reported of a new Kensai finding this in Irenicus’s dungeon (with no import).

Description[]
“ | Blades of this type were long used by Sharran priests during the sacrificial rites of "Feast of the Moon" ceremonies. Legends say that, when she passed on, the remains of this sword's wielder were mummified and the blade was placed within her chest as a symbol of power. In the first stage of a long forgotten ritual, she was to have been exhumed in a season, born again in some new form. Unfortunately, cult wars killed the few that knew of her existence; her tomb became a prison where she was forgotten, and there she developed a rage that bordered on insanity. Her grave was eventually found, but it was deserted and gave no indication of her whereabouts. Some venture to say that her anger was so concentrated that she became one with the very blade of her weapon. Regardless, after hundreds of years surrounded by constant hate, the sword harvested a power of its own. It is now exceedingly deadly in combat. | ” |
