Ulvaryl is the first Vampire encountered in the saga. After a brief declaratory exchange with her foes, she attacks the three Shadow Thieves.

If Ulvaryl is allowed to kill all three would-be assassins, she will transform into an unassailable Vampire bat and exit the room.

If Gorion's ward party attacks and destroys her hit points to zero or less, she morphs into a 'Gas cloud form' and will flee the area instead.

Dialogue[]

Ulvaryl: "Ah, excellent. I see I am to be provided fresh blood, for once."
Assassin: "Where is your master, fiend? We seek Irenicus. Give us the upstart, and you shall survive!"
Ulvaryl: "Already am I dead, thief. Join me in darkness..."
Assassin: "Enough! Kill this creature and raze the guild. Irenicus shall learn what it is to betray the Shadow Thieves!"

Game Play[]

Ulvaryl is not immune to normal weapons. Her abilities are similar to a Fledgling Vampire. In order to maximize the experience point gain from this encounter, you need to defeat the Vampire before all the Assassins are killed, as she will flee and leave the dungeon once her quarry is dead.

If the party doesn't wish to face the vampire at all, and decides to remain unengaged in combat, then it will not affect the questline - other than leaving some potential experience points unattained.

Mods:[]

The Sword Coast Stratagems mod makes a number of changes to Ulvaryl. See the "Mod Content" section of the Vampire page. With this mod, the creature can only be struck with a +2 enchanted weapon or better, unlike the unmodified creature. These weapon items are scarce at this stage of the game. It is possible you may only possess one item that can strike her, so may have to rely on damage dealing spells or wands.
