The Troll Claw Woods are an area in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear.

First entering this area triggers the start of Chapter Nine. The woods, also known as the Troll Forest, is where the companions Jaheira and Voghiln can be found and leads to the Troll Cave.

Layout[]

  • Several small encounters with Giant and Huge Spiders are scattered around, almost always with at least one trap nearby with a Web-like effect.
  • Several more Troll [verification needed] groups, including one with a Giant Troll. It is very important to have a consistent way to do at least one point of fire or acid damage, as trolls will not die if the damage that takes them below 0 HP doesn't contain one of those two elements. Otherwise, they will collapse at 1 HP, and if not killed soon, revive at full health. Firefly, The Burning Earth, or Acid or Fire Arrows are good choices. Melf's Acid Arrow, Flame Arrow, or other spells can be used, but it wastes a great deal of their potential.
  • An Orc encounter in the center south area that will yield the Glimmer of Hope mace
  • A Hobgoblin group on the road near the center of the map that features a Hobgoblin Captain who throws an oil flask (acts as a Fireball)
  • A group of refugees at the center north area who ask for directions.
  • Some Ogres accompanied by an Ogre Berserker and several Half-Ogre Veterans are on a hill near the center of the map.
  • Near the southeast corner, a large group of bandits will recognize the slayer of Sarevok and immediately run away.
  • Near the northeast corner, a pair of Wild Boars will make the poor choice to attack Gorion's Ward.
  • Near the large standing stones in the northeast, a pack of Spectral Trolls will attack, but only at night.
  • Lastly, an old friend and a new one can be found at the end of the road leading north.

At the far northwest is a cave that is a troll den.
