The Tiefling (Mage) is encountered in the Watcher's Keep Teleport Maze when traveling through a portal to the Watcher's Keep – Aesgareth (AR3015) area.

Aesgareth is a cambion... a half-fiend... who is our lord and master. Not a bad sort, really, though truth be told, he'll do anything for a good gamble.

Gameplay[]

This female servant of the cambion Aesgareth is neutral when first encountered. It is possible to converse with the tiefling if desired, although discussion is limited in scope.

This Tiefling is a mage that will favor spell casting as its first choice in combat.

The creature wields a Cleric's Staff for melee combat, and a Robe of the Good Archmagi for protection.

If made hostile, the mage will initially be able to initiate a chain of protective spells.

Her scripted spell casting actions are summarized in the InfoBox.

Some of this mage's AoE spells can and will damage allies. She doesn't seem to hold back with a Sunfire, lightning bolt or fireball.

This mage summons no help and doesn't use any spell removing magic.

Mod content[]

Mods icon This section is about unofficial content that is only available via fan-made mods.

The Sword Coast Stratagems mod revises this creature moderately with a new smarter AI script for improved targeting and situational awareness. The mod raises the mage's XP level to 25, and assigns a random speciality kit (Conjurer, Enchanter, Invoker or Necromancer), which affects how her spell book is populated.

Will self-protect with an extensive blanket of spell buffs, rendering the mage mostly immune to all attacks, and will be under a Shadow Door with Non-Detection with the Spell Revisions mod installed, meaning she can't be seen or targeted. The player will have to either dispel everything (although with SR she'll also be protected with a Dispelling Screen, which will stop one Dispel magic effect/Breach).

The mage also has a prepared Minor Sequencer, Spell Sequencer and Spell Trigger which are scripted to instantly release.

She can take down a character's protections with Remove Magic, Spell Thrust, Breach, Khelben's Warding Whip and Spellstrike.

She might get off a Time Stop, coupled with Improved Alacrity and try an Imprisonment or Summon Planetar.
