The Shadow's Blade (The Shadow's Blade +3 in-game), also known as the Short Sword of Backstabbing, is an enchanted +3 short sword. Despite its alias, it offers no backstabbing modifiers, though its Speed Factor of 0 helps ensure it will be the first weapon to strike when a dual-wielding thief backstabs. This item appears in Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition.
In Baldur's Gate, this weapon is the most powerful short sword available. The assassin Slythe, who can be found in the Undercellar in the last chapter will drop this weapon when he is killed.
In Baldur's Gate II, Renal Bloodscalp will give this item as a reward for helping him with the Find Proof of Mae'Var's Treachery quest if you don't accept the stronghold.
