Tenser's Transformation transforms a wizard into a formidable fighting machine.
Description[]
“ | Tenser's Transformation Tenser's Transformation is a sight guaranteed to astound any creature not aware of its power, for when the wizard casts the spell, he undergoes a startling transformation. The size and strength of the wizard increase to heroic proportions, and he becomes a formidable fighting machine. The spell causes the caster to become a berserk Fighter: his Hit Points double, and all damage he sustains is first detracted from the magically-gained life; his Armor Class gains a +4 bonus up to a maximum Armor Class of -10; and all his attacks are made as though he were a Fighter of the same level (i.e. the wizard uses the combat values normally reserved for Fighters, although no extra attacks per round are gained). Each attack also receives a +2 bonus to hit and damage rolls. The effect lasts for the duration or until dispelled. |

Contrary to the description there is no Armor Class cap.
A Bard can profit especially from this spell, since they level much faster than other classes. For example, a Bard with 2 million XP has level 19 and will get a THAC0 like a Fighter of level 19 (THAC0 = 2), whereas a Fighter with 2 million XP would be level 16 and only have a THAC0 of 5.
The spell stops scaling at level 20, which means the best base THAC0 it can give is 1 (and then on top a +2 to every hit roll, making it basically -1).
The THAC0 scaling is of little use to Fighter / Mage and the like, since their fighter levels will likely give them a higher THAC0 already, but they can still benefit from the other effects of the spell.
As the spell cannot be prematurely cancelled (outside of casting Dispel Magic on the character, which could however also dispel all other buffs), it can be disadvantageous with a long duration because it disables spellcasting.

Area of Effect: Caster
Saving Throw: None
Tenser’s Transformation is a sight guaranteed to astound any creature not aware of its power. For when the mage casts the spell, he undergoes a startling transformation which alters his body and his mind into that of a warrior. The wizard gains 2 hit points per caster level (up to a maximum of 40), and all damage he sustains comes first from the magical points gained. The armor class of the caster is 4 better than he possessed prior casting the spell, and all attack rolls are made with the THAC0 of a fighter of the same level as the caster. The mage gains extra attacks as a fighter of the same level, thus an extra half attack per round at 7th level and another half attack per round at 13th level. Furthermore, each attack is made at +2, each successful hit in combat inflicts an additional 2 points of damage and saving throws against death/poison are made by the caster with a +4 bonus, but casting speed is penalized by 2 and saving throws against spell are made by the caster with a -2 penalty. Note: this spell does not give any extra attacks to multiclassed or dual-classed fighter/mages, as they normally gain additional attacks per round due to their fighter levels.
