The Temple District is one of seven districts in Athkatla. As the name suggests, this is the most religious part of Athkatla. There are temples worshipping Helm, Lathander and Talos. The southeast quadrant is dominated by the High Hall of the Radiant Heart, a knightly Order. To the northeast is the Pimlico Estate and a Guarded Compound. Beneath the district are Sewers, accessed by one of three entrances along the bridges that connect all other buildings.

The Eyeless Prophet[]
Upon entering the district for the first time, an unavoidable cut-scene occurs with Gaal who is both an iconoclast and a prophesying proselytizer. On the one hand he denounces all the Known Gods of Faerûn, including the three major Temple District sects, Helm, Lathander and Talos. He further declares that priests are charlatans, and their powers do not derive from the "so-called" gods, who do not exist at all, but rather that they simply use magic, much as any Wizard would use. The purpose? To fool the common people into donating their wealth to build their temples and support their clergy. On the other hand, he declares that the "one true religion" comes from his own god, the Unseeing Eye. With yays or nays from citizens, peasants, and hecklers, Dawnmaster Kreel, a priest from the Temple of Lathander, stands in opposition to Gaal's supplications. Gaal then urges his new acolytes to follow him. Some citizens remain where they are, others wander off or follow Gaal.
After the cut-scene, a priest of the same basic alignment of Gorion's Ward will ask the protagonist to follow along to a temple to discuss what is required.
- Good Ward: High Mornmaster Arval of Lathander
- Neutral Ward: High Watcher Oisig of Helm
- Evil Ward: Stormherald Nallabir of Talos
If it is Oisig, he will insist:
"This must not come to pass. The everseeing eye of Helm must be made aware of what they intend."
"You there. You have the look of a man/woman of faith. I would ask a service of you. If you perform well, you may gain the favor of the Temple of Helm"
"Follow me to the temple of Helm. I will discuss what is required of you there. Do not take too long; Helm requires you now."
Ultimately, this scene is a precursor for the quest to Investigate and Destroy the Cult of the Eyeless.
Whether you choose to pursue this quest or not, the following entry is made in your Journal, titled A Cult of the Eyeless?
“ | Some form of new religion or cult has been formed in the city, centered on a god called 'the Unseeing Eye'. A priest of some kind whose own eyes were missing spoke to a crowd, calling on them to shed their 'false sight' and join in the worship of this new god. | ” |
