Caster level[]

What caster level is used for dual classes?

Ranger 2 -> Cleric 15

Cleric 2 -> Ranger 15

— Anon

No matter if they attempt to cast a cleric-only spell (Silence, 15' Radius), a ranger-only spell (Charm Person or Mammal) or a spell known to both classes (Doom), it's the cleric caster level that's used when the spell is classified as "priest spell". (as opposed to "innate"; where it'd be the average of both levels rounded up)
See caster level for incomplete considerations on the topic. It's an article on item mechanics but it's the closest we have to a description of caster level mechanics. — Haximus Thunderburp (talk), 16 March 2024

To TheWildestMage, how do you get Wisdom 25?[]

How is it possible for a Human Cleric>Ranger to get Wisdom 25?

18 starting
+3 from the three tomes in BGEE
+1 from the test of wrath in hell
+1 from the star card from the deck of many things (gotta do it before you dual)
+1 from the machine of lum the mad
+1 from the Silver Ioun Stone
=
25
You can also do it with a party member casting Wish to get 25 to all stats and then another Wish to "rest", so you get to actually use the extra slots. It lasts for 4 rounds, so you get 1 round to get the spells back with the second Wish and 3 more rounds to use the extra lv7 slot. Or, if you do the quicksave/quickload exploit OR use Improved Alacrity OR use Nahal's Reckless Dweomer to cast both Wishes in the same round you get to use the extra lv7 slot for the full 4 rounds (not that you need that many, as it's just one extra lv7 slot). And I've used this trick a few times before, with a Mage built to spam Wishes, which is often just... Edwin (though a Cleric/Thief can do it solo when equipped with two Wish scrolls and Vhailor's Helm, but that's besides the point here, as it's about Cleric/Rangers). --TheWildestMage (talk) 07:10, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

To TheWildestMage, how does one get a Holy Symbol for a Cleric14>Ranger?[]

How to get a Holy Symbol?

You can pinch the Holy Symbol off another Cleric who's gotten to a high enough level to earn one. Your mileage may vary as to whether this is cheesy - hardcore roleplayers may think that taking the symbol of another cleric would displease the god who granted it - but it's entirely possible in the game. Up to you whether you think that the symbol is more worthwhile on your other cleric than it is on your Cleric/Ranger, of course.
Your second cleric would have to be Anomen unless you create your own party, though as mentioned on Anomen's page there is a bug to duplicate his Holy Symbol, if you're up for outright exploits. Pre-EE you could also take the symbol off Aerie if you wanted, although she gets hers very late due to her multiclass. In EE however she gets a unique one that only she can use.
