Surly half-orc within the Copper Coronet.
| “ | I'm Surly, and I manage the pit. No one else. Now beat it 'fore I kick your arse outta here. | ” |
— Surly | ||
Gameplay[]
This ugly and bad-tempered male half-breed manages the fighting pit in the main area of the Coronet. Surly glowers at anyone approaching him, giving the impression he doesn't want to talk.
Gorion's Ward can place bets on dog fights with Surly. The correct dialogue choice must occur to do this - Surly will not offer any dog fight opportunities without selecting the right dialogue - Otherwise, he'll tell the party to leave him be in the most derogatory way he can muster through his foul breath and hungover brain.
No matter how many insults he hurls at the party when he's spoken too, he will always agree to wager his coin vs. the bettor's coin in a dog match. The stakes are always a flat 10 gold, so no one is getting rich here, especially on a 50-50 bet. Perhaps try a Luck (spell) beforehand. Win or lose, Surly isn't gracious about the result.
Note that certain more virtuous companions will disapprove of dog death match fighting and make interjections about this practice.
As tempting as it may be to harm this foul-mouthed creature, attacking him will cause hostilities in the Copper Coronet. Not only that but you'll miss out on future dog fight betting.
Note[]
Surly's alignment was True Neutral in the original game and changed to LE in the Enhanced Edition.
