This page is about the Stun status effect, and the game coding State - Stunned.
Stun is a status effect that causes two simultaneous states to a creature - the State - Stunned and the State - Helpless.
Stun is different from the State - Held, although there are similar characteristics between the status effects of Stun, Held and Paralyze.
The game engine has a catalog of different states, which allows for more gameplay variety and interactions with script coding, to include counters, immunities, and cures.
A creature affected by Stun, and therefor also Helpless, will exhibit the following behavior:
- The target is immobilized.
- The target is automatically hit by any attack directed at it, although critical hits and misses are disabled.
- If the target is a playable character, the target is unselctable and the inventory is disabled.
- In the Enhanced Edition, the player character will display the Stun icon on the portrait, by default.
The player may see two string text references on their combat log when the Stun effect takes place, those are "Stun" or more commonly "Stunned".
