Stone Golems are constructs of intermediate power, behind iron and adamantite golems but potentially more powerful and durable than a Flesh Golem.
Only +2 or greater enchanted weapons can harm them, and they are 100 % magic resistant. This golem type has no resistance to Physical damage or Elemental damage. Accordingly, they can be damaged by spells or attacks that bypass magic resistance.
The golem's melee attack dishes out 3d8 Crushing damage and it is modified by their superior strength. The fist attack counts as a +4 enchanted item for the purpose of what it can strike. They typically only strike once per round. If a Stone Golem is accompanied by a Clay Golem, which occurs in several areas in the saga, then they may be under the effects of Golem Haste which doubles their movement and Attacks per round.
The golem's innate immunity to a number of Status Effects is listed in the info box. There are still a number of effects that can impede this type of golem, so be aware there are ways to cause them to be less effective with the correct items or attacks.
Like the Juggernaut Golem, they have the innate ability to initiate a Golem Slow effect, which is scripted to initiate when an enemy is observed, and upon the outset of hostilities.

This icon indicates content from the original Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast campaign. This is changed in the Enhanced Edition.

Mod content[]
- This section is about unofficial content that is only available via fan-made mods.
The Sword Coast Stratagems mod and the installation of the "AI Enhancement's" component improves many aspects of creatures encountered in the game. In regard to golems, the mod implements the following:
Improved Golems (BG2, BG2EE, BGT/EET)
This component doesn't really make golems smarter (they're supposed to be stupid) But it streamlines their scripts a bit, gives their weapons a sensible range, makes them immune to Lower Resistance and to poison, and tries to prevent situations where golems get stuck behind barricades. It also fixes an animation glitch in the Iron Golem animation - this hopefully makes iron golems a bit prettier when they attack and blow clouds.
With this component the stone golem is immune to the following spells and status effects: Web, Entangle, Plant Growth, Paralyze, Poison damage, Poison, Lower Resistance, Pierce Magic, and Pierce Shield.
The Golem Slow innate ability is initiated at the beginning of hostilities, and again, every three rounds thereafter.
This golem now has a melee attack range reach of 2, instead of the unmodified creature's range of 1.
