The Spirit Form spell ability was introduced in the Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition game as a High-level class ability selection choice available to the Shaman class.
This ability can be selected multiple times.
Spirit Form is a prerequisite to learn the Favored of the Spirits ability.
Description[]
| “ | The shaman slips into a space between the spirit world and the material plane, rendering them partially incorporeal. For the next 5 rounds, all physical attacks directed against the shaman deal 50% of their normal damage. During this time, the shaman is also under the effects of Improved Invisibility and cannot be directly targeted by spells. | ” |
Gameplay[]
This ability is accessed from the character's "Special Abilities" button, select the button icon with the cursor (or F12 on a keyboard) to open the menu - use the cursor again and click on the desired ability icon or use one of the designated F-keys if playing with a keyboard interface.
Once the ability icon is selected the Spirit Form power is bestowed and is immediately applied upon the character automatically - the character has a brief 3D effect render on their sprite, as well as a color glow pulse and transparency fade for the spell's duration. The character will show an icon (No. 26) titled "Resist Fire/Cold" on their portrait.
The ability has a duration of 5 rounds once applied to the character.
Once the ability is initiated, the character receives the following benefits:
- +50% Physical damage resistance (crushing, missile, piercing, and slashing)
- Improved Invisibility
This ability cannot be removed or dispelled from the shaman - the improved invisibility can't be taken down by certain illusion destroying attacks as it isn't technically an Illusionary protections type - however the invisible state can be removed by powers and spells that cure invisibility, such as Invisibility Purge or True Seeing.
