The Soultaker Dagger was used by Durlag Trollkiller to capture the soul of a powerful demon named Aec'Letec many years ago. It is a normal 1D4 dagger and it has no magical enhancements.
The first time you enter the Ulgoth's Beard Inn, Hurgan Stoneblade will approach you and request that you retrieve it for him from Durlag's Tower. The dagger is in the possession of the Demon Knight. He can be found in his chamber room located on the fourth labyrinth level beneath the tower.
When the dagger is brought back to Ulgoth's Beard, the party will immediately have an encounter with members of a unnamed cult. Regardless of the outcome, the members of this cult will gain possession of the dagger and use it to revive Aec'Letec, whom you'll have to kill.

At the end of the Siege of Dragonspear campaign, a hooded man, using this dagger, murdered a former companion of yours and trapping the victim's soul within it. If the dagger is in your inventory before the scene, it will be removed from your bags. It also appears in a cinematic later in the game.
