The Sling of Everard is a magical sling which requires no ammunition to fire. While its "default" ammunition deals fairly little damage and might discourage people from giving the weapon a try, it has a THAC0 bonus and enchantment of +5. Just like with the Shortbow of Gesen and other weapons generating their own ammunition, the ammunition created by the Sling of Everard will inherit the enchantment. This makes this Sling one of the rare ranged weapons available in Shadows of Amn that are capable of delivering projectiles with an enchantment level of 5, capable of hitting powerful enemies such as demiliches. Since there are plenty of bullets +4 in the Throne of Bhaal portion of the game, the weapon loses some of its appeal there against other slings.
Without bullets, its damage is a mere 1D4+2, less than a generic Sling +2 with mundane bullets. If you use bullets, it adds those same 1D4+2 to the bullet damage, on average 4.5, which is just short of the +5 of the Erinne Sling +5. However, a character with access to Righteous Magic can turn those 1D4+2 into a straight 6, 1 point of damage better than the Erinne Sling +5.
This item can be bought from Joluv in the Copper Coronet. As one of the two bonus merchants, he appears in a Collector's Edition Shadows of Amn. In the Enhanced Edition, the bonus merchants are present by default.
