Skydrop Gem

Skydrops are semi-precious gems in Baldur's Gate and Shadows of Amn.

Though a very rare find, they are a valuable source of income – to fund the common adventurer's travels on the Sword Coast and in Amn.

In all games, skydrop gems can be found as random treasure.

In Baldur's Gate, it's possible to find or steal 3 gems at fixed locations and to pick pockets (or murder) for a further 3.

East Baldur's Gate – Thieves' Guild: carried around⁽⁵⁰⁾ by Black Lily ^{(AR0153 | 1152.585)}
South Baldur's Gate – Low Lantern, 2nd underdeck: carried around⁽⁵⁰⁾ by Vay-ya ^{(AR0134 | 324.252)}
Iron Throne Headquarters, 1st floor (Chapter Seven): carried around⁽⁵⁰⁾ by Dhanial ^{(AR0616 | 986.771)}
Ulcaster Dungeon: found in a pile on the ground in the first larger chamber with dire wolves, to the west ^{(AR3901 | 656.368)}
Wyrm's Crossing – Tenya's Home: found in the locked⁽⁶⁰⁾ chest at her bed, together with a Jade Ring and 18  ^(AR0901)
North Baldur's Gate – Bheren's Home, upper floor: found in the drawer, together with 8  and Angel the Cat's Angel Skin Ring ^(AR0005)

The Enhanced Edition's expansion only expands the gem's appearances as random treasure.

There are only 3 skydrops to be found in the original Shadows of Amn at fixed locations.
The Enhanced Edition adds further to the random treasure.

This icon indicates content from the Shadows of Amn campaign of the Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition. As many other gems, the file for the skydrop gem, MISC21.itm, has a magical item ability attached. This, however, has no effect and is not present in the Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

Skydrops belong to the category of semi-precious stones, the second-least valuable stones to be found in the realms.
