The Scroll Merchant is located within the Red Wizard Enclave in the Merchant Area of the map.

Gameplay[]
Initiate dialogue with the mage/merchant if desired and peruse his store.
If for any reason the merchant is made hostile (such as a failed shoplifting/pickpocketing attempt), or if attacked, or if any other neutral creatures in his area are made hostile - then the mage will fight back to the death.
The mage has a very simplistic spell plan - first, get up two defensive spells, then cast some disabling spells, and finish off with chromatic orb castings.
He has a Wand of Monster Summoning in his quick item slot and is scripted to use it against enemy mage or bard classes in detection range (it only has 1-charge).
He can attempt to hurl Dart +1 ammunition, but his THAC0 is poor - if pressed in close quarters, he'll switch to his dagger, yet his to-hit is even worse than with darts.

The Sword Coast Stratagems mod revises the mage's default AI script, to install smarter spell casting behavior and item use.
Revised spells are added, new Minor Sequencer is assigned and scripted for use. If the Icewind Dale spell pack is installed, there will be several spells from that component included in his repertoire.
Addition random items are placed in the inventory (such as scrolls and potions).
All of the above is applicable with the Spell Revisions mod installed alongside SCS.
