Save Jaheira from Baron Ployer's Curse is one of two Companion Quests with Jaheira during the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn campaign.
Acquisition[]
Upon entering the Sea's Bounty Tavern at the Athkatla Docks with Jahiera in the party, a former slaver named Baron Ployer will confront Jaheira. After their dialog, three mages, Terrece, Gracien and Malacazar, will appear and cast a curse on her, which lowers her Dexterity, Intelligence and her Charisma by one point immediately. It will continue to make her weaker every day. Furious about what happened to her and eager to kill him, Jaheira suggests that the party should find Bernard, who may know the whereabouts of Belgrade, whom Ployer mentioned. She also proposes searching the Slums for Ployer and asking at the government building (Council of Six) about the mages he had hired.
Walkthrough[]
- Speak to Bernard in the Copper Coronet in Athkatla Slums. He will tell Jaheira that Ployer killed Belgrade, a fellow Harper.
- Enter the Council of Six Building in the Athkatla Government and ask Corneil about Baron Ployer or the mages. He will not be very helpful.
- Speak to Terrece who will be standing just outside the building. He and his associates are not happy with the deal they struck with Ployer. They can be bribed with 500
, if the speaker's Charisma is higher than 13, or 1,000 to leave Ployer, or for 2,000 they will agree to kill him. Otherwise, they will still serve the Baron. - Enter Ployer's derelict home in the northeast side of the Slums. If you paid Terrece 2,000 to kill Ployer, he will appear and do the deed. If you paid him 1,000 to stay out of it, you can either kill Ployer by himself, or you can force him to remove Jaheira's curse. Jaheira will not honor the deal, however, and will kill Ployer. If you didn't give Terrece anything, you will have to fight Baron Ployer and his three hired mages.
- Take the Lock of Jaheira's hair from Ployer's body and Jaheira will start feeling better. The curse will go away after 24 hours.
- Another Way: You can ignore or not contact anyone and start searching the Slums by yourself. If you enter the Derlict House you'll find Baron Ployer on your own, which will initiate dialogue, and the battle against him and his hired Mages will commence.
