Sanik is a free trader on the island of Brynnlaw during the events of Shadows of Amn. He is encountered during Chapter 4, but only if Gorion's Ward took the Saemon Havarian route to get inside the asylum. He'll be inside Brynnlaw's Inn known as the Vulgar Monkey.

Gameplay[]
Prior to the arrival of the party, Sanik – who had made his money by trading supplies and spellcasting components to the Cowled Wizards operating Spellhold – has fallen in love with Claire, a courtesan employed by Galvena. He had plans to smuggle her away from Brynnlaw to marry her, and his dealings with Gorion's Ward were intended to be his last job before doing that.
Soon after speaking with Sanik, a surprise attack in the Brynnlaw Inn from a halfling assassin ends his life. Based on further statements from the Innkeeper and what the assassin has said, it looks like the "hit" was ordered by Galvena as punishment for some sort of slight against the Brothel madame.
The information supplied by Sanik, and the Innkeeper should clue the party in that Claire has some information needed to provide a pathway or method to gain access to Spellhold. See the Getting inside the asylum page for more information. The party now has at least one goal to help move forward to rescue Imoen.
Mod content[]
Two mods are available that add an unofficial alternative to save Sanik and let the couple enjoy a happy ending. Both mods are very different in content.
