The Sandthief's Ring is a magical ring in The Black Pits, Tales of the Sword Coast, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Shadows of Amn (and EE) and can be imported into Throne of Bhaal.

Description

Ring of invisibility: 'Sandthief's Ring'. Held by a master thief for the better part of a generation, this ring was put to bold use in the markets of Waterdeep. Working a crowd in broad daylight, the rogue would steal countless numbers of purses from the nobles, replacing them with bags of sand so the theft would go unnoticed. His identity was never known, but the name Sandthief was cursed loudly in its stead. It is rumored he retired, and now lives among the nobles he used to rob.

Gameplay[]

It bestows normal Invisibility to the wearer upon command via the item spell use menu. Therefore, the effect is not constant, but rather is activated when needed, so long as the item is not drained of charges. Its effect is removed by anything that would normally end the Wizard spell Invisibility.

expansion, the ring would be destroyed if all of its charges were used up, having neglected to sell and then re-buy it, in order to recharge it back to its maximum number of charges. This could be quite expensive with a base item value of 20,000gp further adjusted for low reputation, and other factors.

the ring is only temporarily "drained" not destroyed, at the cost of having only One Use per Rest Period. Item value is then much less, as a result. and no need to sell/re-buy it

In addition, Cespenar can use the ring to upgrade Thieves' Hood (also requires an Antidote, and 5,000gp).

Various game-controlled NPCs will employ an undroppable Sandrhief's ring coupled with the useitem.bcs script in order to attain invisibility. An example is Regis in the Encounter - Drizzt Do'Urden area.
