Location[]
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn[]
- City of Caverns - Reward from King Ixilthetocal if you side with him and kill Prince Villynaty, or loot from the treasury if you side with the Prince and kill the King.
Description[]
“ | Also called the Wrath of Three Kings, though not associated with any named king in particular, this rod was likely made in 1090 DR. It saw use during the Battle of the Bones, but for which side is uncertain, as it was found amongst the dead after a large skirmish. Three button unlock the rod's magic: The first transforms into a fearsome enchanted mace; the second, a hypnotic flaming blade, the third, a barbed spear. Only warriors can properly use its exotic mix of weaponry. | ” |
Gameplay[]
This item has quite a few oddities when it comes to who can use what.
First, it can't be used by several classes that can use many of the weapons the rod turns into (eg Clerics can use the mace, Druids can use the spear).
And, second, it can be used by Beast Masters, despite the fact they shouldn't be able to use any of the weapons produced (a mace, a long sword and a spear). However, as it turns out, Beast Masters can wield all three. Monks can also use all three weapons, despite the fact they shouldn't be able to wield the mace or the spear (in fact, it's the only two-handed weapon that Monks can use, though not without issues, as they have no proper animations to handle two-handed weapons).
