The Ring of the Ram, or Breaker of Castles, is a unique magical ring in Shadows of Amn and Gladiators of Thay.

Also known as the Breaker of Castles, with one word, this ring can unleash fantastic and deadly powers. When it is triggered, a barely discernible ram-like shape billows forth from the ring. This force can potentially knock opponents off of walls, destroy castle gates, or crush enemies, but it is damaging as well in its own right.

It can be used to create a ram-like shape once per rest, which does 5D6 points of magic energy damage to a single target, bypassing their Magic resistance. The force is a level 0 effect, with no assigned school or secondary type. There is no saving throw for the damage.

The target is also pushed away by the ram, but this does not bypass MR. The knock back (Opcode 235 Wing Buffet) moves the creature away from the ring wearer 30 feet and taking 1 second duration to travel that distance. There is no saving throw for the knock back effect.

Neither of these effects bypass mirror image.

Players have reported that, if Valygar's body is carried in a Bag of Holding when handing it over to Tolgerias, it won't be removed, making the ring available a second time during the Planar Sphere part of the The Hunt for Valygar Corthala quest.[1]
