“ | Your arrogance is most distasteful! | ” |
Rieltar Anchev is a member of the Iron Throne, a mercantile organization that operates throughout the Western Heartlands of Faerûn. He is one of the leaders of the Iron Throne branch in the city of Baldur's Gate. Sarevok is his adopted child.
Rieltar along with fellow Iron Throne member Brunos Costak are first encountered in Chapter Six. They are meeting with Tuth and Kestor, two members of the Knights of the Shield, in a conference room on the third floor of the Candlekeep Library.
Quotes[]
When charmed, Rieltar will confess the following:
“ | I'm one of the western divisional leaders of the Iron Throne. We are here at Candlekeep negotiating with the Knights of the Shield. We have been creating a misinformation campaign to blame the Zhentarim for all the troubles in the region. We are trying to create tensions between the governments of Baldur's Gate and Amn. With iron being the most important resource in a war, the Baldurian government will have to go to us in order to get any. We have disrupted all iron trade through the region using the Blacktalon mercenaries and the Chill. The only known iron mine in the region is at Nashkel, and we have effectively crippled that mine. We have our own mine operating in Cloakwood. When the Baldurian government comes to us for iron, we will be able to make exorbitant trading demands, and thus become the preeminent trading power in this region. | ” |
Gameplay[]
Mage Book[]
If it comes to a fight, Rieltar will first use his Improved Invisibility spell, then cast four Lightning Bolts, followed by four Agannazar's Scorchers, and finally he'll cast his four Magic Missile spells.[1]
Notes[]
- Though not in possession of any robe or other protective equipment, Rieltar's armor class is the same as if wearing a Robe of the Evil Archmagi.
- Rieltar is given two proficiency slots with his dagger which is not allowed for a mage.
Bugs[]
- Baldur's Gate (1998)
This icon indicates content from the original Baldur's Gate campaign. In the original Baldur's Gate, there are several instances where Rieltar Anchev's name is handled inconsistently: he is often referred to as Reiltar and even gets the surname of fellow Iron Throne member, Brunos Costak. All this is fixed in the Enhanced Edition.
