Aquisition[]

  • In the City of Caverns, you will encounter two playful and mischievous imps who want to challenge the party to a contest. In return, they will grant you access to a chest.

Gameplay[]

These two Imps are pleased to finally have visitors to their area and chitter and chatter in excitement. They really want the party to play their game! the two will take turns speaking in their broken manner:

"... hee hee! You big peoples will want the treasure, right? You can have the drow treasure, oh yes! But you have to play our game first! Hee hee! You have to play our game!"

The party can ask questions, make remarks back to the Imps and react to their dialogue. If the party isn't interested in playing the game, then the party can refuse, and the disappointed Imps will crack a few lines, but then they will leave forever - and this Riddle quest is over - there will be no game. On the other hand, if the party is curious, they can agree to play. If so, the Imps will be happy and say:

"The big peoples will plays our game! Hurray! Hurray!"

The Imps explain the game:

"Okay, big peoples... this is how our game will go! There is five chests here with nothings in them! In front of each empty chest, a famous big people will appear! Each famous big people will give you a gift that belongs to another famous big people... and they will hints to you what gifts belong to them! f you thinks you knows which famous big people a gift belongs to, you puts it in the empty chest behind them, yes? Very simple! Lotsa fun! Okay, we starts now!"

The Imps also warn the party about one particular chest:

"...All except for one... one of them is locked up tight and has all of the drow's treasure! All of it! It has a nasty nasty nasty inside it that will come out and steal your soul! You'll be forever dead-dead!"

A party member may now enter the small arena and will see five legendary hero's of the past and present - speak to each one a get their clue, and also an item. It would be beneficial for a party member to search for traps in this area and disarm them if found. Place a single item in the corresponding chest behind the selected hero - If all items are placed correctly then the Imps will again speak:

"OOoohh! You gots it all right, you did! You outsmarted us but good! Okay, okay. We keeps the deal. You goes and opens the last chest now, and we imps will save you. We gets to laugh at the nasty nasty nasty!"

The specter within the chest attempts to rise forth, and in a ghostly voice utters:

"Ahhhhaaaa... you hhhaaavvve rrrreleeeaaasssed me... But... whaaaat isss thiiiissss? I... I cannnnot rrrreeeeaaaach yyoouur liiifffe fffffoooorrrrce... Nnnnooo! NnNnNNOOOO! I... I aaaammmm tooo weeeeeaaaakkk..."

The Imps laugh at the specter as it is destroyed. They giggle and say:

"Ha ha! Poor nasty nasty nasty! Ha ha! That was fun!"

The Imps bid farewell to the party and disappear. The party may now examine the last chest for the drow treasure. Within is found Boots of Etherealness and the The Spirit's Shield cloak.
