Ribald Barterman is the half-elven owner of the Adventurer Mart in Waukeen's Promenade in Athkatla, the capital city of Amn. During the first task of the Stronghold Quest Claiming the Sphere you may ask Ribald for help.

Background[]
Ribald is a former adventurer who decided to retire and open a store for those who are still making a living that way. He states that the Adventurer Mart has been in the same location for thirty-three years. He is an acquaintance of Jaheira (it is implied that he once worked with her and the Harpers at least a few times), and owns a small wyvern named Lucy.
Interestingly, his name is an outdated way of describing someone with very crass and abrasive manners, especially openly talking about topics others would find "ungentlemanly." So his full name, updated to modern times is "Inappropriate Trader."
Gameplay[]
- From Chapter 6 onward, he will give you access to his "special items" store, which (along with only a handful other merchants) has one of the best buying rates.
- He can be pickpocketed for a Ring of Regeneration. He's wearing it, so there is a penalty to do so, and if caught the consequences will probably preclude shopping from him anymore, as he'll turn hostile to the party.
- If Mazzy or Jaheira are in the party, they will have a brief exchange with Ribald.

Each viewing of his special stock will cost you 50gp. The items he sells here are of higher quality, and he'll pay more gold than normal for items sold to him.

The Ribald's Genie mod installs an option to buy a magical flute from Ribald that can summon a genie that allows the party to transport back to the Adventurer Mart once per day, and then return back to where the party was. There are some restrictions. It's a small mod, that is compatible with all game versions, and isn't incompatible with other mods installed.
