| “ | Gone... gone forever. Thieves! If only I could leave this place... | ” |
Deep in the catacombs of the Korlasz Family Tomb, behind ranks of silent guardians, a sarcophagus lies cracked beside a stream of red-hot lava. There, what remains of a once-learned necromancer should rest.
But he does not rest.
The Restless Spirit lingers, whispering through the heat and ash. Thieves have pried open his tomb and stolen the one thing that still bound his memory to peace— a plain, unenchanted walking staff.
Involvement[]
| “ | My staff... In life, it was my constant companion, something to lean on wherever I went. Now it is gone, taken by foolish thieves who thought it magical. I sense it still... nearby... | ” |
The Shattered Staff[]
The spirit begs that his staff be found and returned. Two pieces of it lie scattered within the tomb. Place them together in his sarcophagus, and the haunting subsides. The grateful ghost rewards the party with gemstones — a payment more valuable than it first appears, for Gorion’s Ward will soon lose all their worldly wealth.
Combat[]
The haunting can also be ended by steel and spell.
Provoked, the ghost cries—
| “ | My tomb becomes yours! | ” |
His own powers are meager, but he calls up three Bonebats to fight beside him. In the service of mightier undead, such creatures can hunt what cannot be seen—sniffing out invisible prey and drawing their master’s wrath upon it. Here, they serve only a feeble ghost, and their shrill guidance leads nowhere.
Defeating the group yields 5,925 XP, roughly twice the reward for returning the staff. The gemstones may still be claimed from the sarcophagus (after completing the quest).
