This quest is given automatically upon recruiting Minsc in Nashkel. He will ask you to rescue Dynaheir from the Gnoll Stronghold.

If you tarry too long Minsc will get impatient and will leave the party and thee quest will fail.

The stronghold itself is home to respawning groups of gnolls. The timer for their respawn is quite short, so you may have to both fight your way in and out. The gnolls have driven whole tree sections (pilings) of appropriate lengths into the ground to make crude but effective stair steps down into the prisoner pits. Dynaheir is at 2470, 1400, at the bottom of one of the prison pits. Note that Dynaheir can't actually be seen without fully descending into the pit, this can be confusing because standing with the party above the pits does give the false impression that the whole pit, including the very bottom, is seen but in fact it isn't. Not reviewing in depth the prison pit can give the impression that Dynaheir is nowhere to be found. Since she was kept in harsh conditions during her imprisonment, she is below her maximum HP when found.

At the end of the quest you can accept Minsc and Dynaheir in your party. If you refuse they will disappear from the game. If you don't want them as companions immediately you can accept them and then dismiss them, this way they will be available for recruitment at any time in the future.

Notes[]

  • While Dynaheir and Edwin cannot peacefully coexist in the same party long term, if the player wishes to keep their options open and have both companions as viable choices, simply do not speak to Edwin in Nashkel until after recruiting Dynaheir (avoiding his quest entirely).
  • This quest is in opposition with Edwin and Dynaheir, there can't be completed both.
