Remove Paralysis is a 3rd-level priest spell usable only by clerics and paladins. It cures status effects Stun, Paralyze and Hold creature for all allies in the area of effect.

Description[]

By the use of this spell, the priest can free all creatures within the area from the effects of any paralyzation or related magic (such as a ghoul's touch or a Hold spell).

Gameplay[]

The caster selects a point on the area map to aim this spell toward, using the targeting cursor to designate the center of the spell's area of effect.

When the spell casting is finished a sparkling projectile speeds to the point and then immediately applies the Remove Paralysis spell effects to all party members and allied creatures in the Area of Effect.

Each creature will have a brief white column of swirling energy, and a color fade effect render over their sprite.

The spell's effects are instantaneously applied, which will do the following:

  • Cure Stun effects (Unstun) - this removes the State: Stunned from any source.
  • Cure Hold effects - this removes Paralyze effects and Held effects at the same time.
  • Free Action (status effect) applied - which restores the creatures movement rate to its default value.

This spell is not a preventive action, but simply a quick way to cure some disabling status effects, however, as soon as the cure is provided, the same status effect could be reapplied afterwards.

It will not cure a creature affected by being Webbed, nor the rarely resisted Hold creature 2 effect.

Remove Paralysis and the 4th level priest spell Free Action are the only spells which cure stun (although a stun caused by a magical effect can also be removed by Dispel Magic).

    In the original Shadows of Amn, this spell would cause a monk or barbarian to permanently lose their innate movement speed bonus. This was fixed with the release of the Throne of Bhaal expansion.

By the use of this spell, the priest can free one or more creatures from the effects of any paralyzation or from related magic (such as a ghoul touch, or a hold or slow spell).

If the spell is cast on one creature, the paralyzation is negated. If cast on two creatures, each receives another saving throw vs. the effect that afflicts it, with a +4 bonus. If cast on three or four creatures, each receives another saving throw with a +2 bonus.
