Baldur's Gate Wiki

Quataris is a salesperson who is found standing in his stall, which is located on a raised wooden platform in Athkatla's Waukeen's Promenade District. Also found on the platform are his Amnian bodyguard, the storkeep Maheer, a commoner named Murtlen, and a cat. Quataris will query the party with an offer to buy a painting from him. The only dialogue option is to refuse the offer.

Dialogue[]

First response[]

"Ahhh, good business to you, my <LADY/LORD>! My name is Quataris... might you be interested in some artwork? A painting to add style to your abode?"

"I don't think so. Nothing here really suits my taste."

"Well, I am afraid that I am only a purveyor of fine works of art. If you are not a customer of refinement and wealth, then you have no interest in being here, I am sure. Good business to you."

Permanent response[]

"I am sorry, friend... I see there is nothing here to interest you. If you ever run across any... spare... works of art, I am always happy to buy. Otherwise, good business to you."

Notes[]

This merchant is part of content that was cut from the game, according to David Gaider. See also the Quataris's Confession and Bust of Sune.

The Unfinished Business II mod for Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn restores a quest, "The Murder of Acton Balthis", that was cut from the game according to David Gaider of Bioware. This quest is only for players who have taken Haer'Dalis as a companion, and who also, for some reason, have not already slain Quataris the art dealer in Waukeen's Promenade.
