Psionic Life Drain, or also sometimes just written as Life Drain, is a Psionic Ability reserved for the Githyanki race creatures, some of which the game bestows this ability to, mostly from the Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition and Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal games.
Gameplay[]
The githyanki creature aims this spell at a detected enemy, typically when the caster's Hit Points have been reduced (example, by 50%), and it is a ForceSpell cast.
The spell exposes the target to 1d6+4 Magical damage, and whatever the damage rolled is applied as a temporary addition to the caster's current hit points - these HP's can heal damage and potentially boost HP over the creatures maximum HP value.
Any extra hit points fade away after one turn if there are any that exceed the creatures maximum HP value.
The spell plays a brief lighting effect and color fade over the target, and a sound effect when the spell hits, and when the hit point duration expires.
The spell effect is unaffected by Magic resistance, but the internal Power level is 4, so most spell protections can block it, save Minor Globe of Invulnerability.
Spell Immunity: Necromancy can also stymie this spell, as well as the Cloak of Mirroring.
This spell is basically a modified version of the Larloch's Minor Drain spell, but with a few changes.
