Protection From Magic Energy bestows one target creature with 100% resistance to all Magical damage.

Description[]

Protection From Magic Energy
When the spell is cast, it confers 100% invulnerability to all magic-based attacks such as Magic Missile or Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting. This effect lasts for the duration of the spell or until dispelled.

Gameplay[]

The caster applies this to a single creature or self - it has a range of basically "touch" distance.

When the spell casting is finished the recipient will show a brief color fade, and a 3D graphic rendered on their sprite.

A text will display, reading "Protection from Magic Energy".

Additionally, a sound effect will audible when the spell expires.

A player character will show an icon (No. 123) titled "Protected from Magical Energy" on their portrait for the spell's duration.

This spell will bestow the recipient with Magical damage resistance set to 100%.

This spell can be removed by any applicable Dispel Magic source or with a Breach spell.

Multiple applications of this spell on the same creature will not increase magical energy resistance over 100%; the most current application will refresh the spell's duration.

The Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition ruleset has no comparable spell to Protection from Magical Energy - the BG video game spell version is a creation of the developers.

When a Protection from Magic Energy spell is cast, the recipient receives complete protection from all magic damage-based attacks. 100% of the damage from attacks like Cause Wound will be absorbed, and the target creature will become completely immune to the effects of spells such as Magic Missile, Skull Trap, Disintegrate, and Horrid Wilting. This effect lasts for the duration of the spell or until dispelled. Certain creatures are immune to the effects of this spell, including all undead.
