The wizard spell Protection From Fire gives the target creature protection from magical and non-magical fire damage.

Scrolls for this spell can be added to the spellbook through learning (chance to Write Magic) and can be used as a one-time only spell by a spell caster.

Description[]

This spell lasts 1 turn per caster level. When the spell is cast, it confers complete invulnerability to normal fires (torches, bonfires, oil fires, and the like) and to exposure to magical fires (fiery dragon breath, hell hound or pyrohydra breath, spells such as Burning Hands, Fireball, Fire Seeds, Fire Storm, Flame Strike, Meteor Swarm, and so on), absorbing 50% of all the damage dealt by such magical sources.

Gameplay[]

This spell sets natural fire resistance to 100% while that to magical fire is increased by 50%.

It's therefore possible a creature's natural fire resistance is lowered and no longer benefits from healing by natural fire damage.

However, magical fire damage as described in the spell is not implemented in the unmodified game.

Spell Revisions mod has removed this arcane spell from the game. There is no direct 3rd level equivalent spell. However, there is a 4th level arcane spell, as described below:

School: Abjuration
Range: Touch
Duration: 1 turn/level
Casting Time: 5
Area of Effect: 1 creature
Saving Throw: None

When this spell is cast, the recipient receives complete protection from one damage type: acid, cold, fire, or lightning. 100% of the damage from the selected source of energy will be absorbed, and the target creature will become completely immune to the effects of spells based on that element. Multiple castings of this spell are not cumulative, but each time a different damage type can be selected.

Upon the casting of this spell, the recipient’s resistance to all forms of elemental damage is increased by 25%. This effect will last for the duration of the spell or until dispelled. Multiple castings of this spell are not cumulative.
