Protection From Energy raises the spell recipients' energy resistances to all energy types, no matter the source.
Description[]
“ | When the spell is cast, it confers 75% immunity against all energy attacks—such as fire, cold, acid, magic, and electricity, whether from magical or non-magical sources—such as spells, weapons, wands, breath weapons, etc. This excludes any physical attacks and spell-created weapons, such as Enchanted Weapon and Spiritual Hammer. In other words, any physical damage, such as piercing, crushing, or slashing will get through. This effect lasts for the duration of the spell or until dispelled. | ” |
Gameplay[]
When the spell is completed and cast on a creature, a text is displayed reading "Protection From Energy", as well as 3D effect and a color fade is rendered over the sprite, and an icon is placed on the character's portrait.
When the spell expires, an audible sound effect is heard.
The recipient of this spell is bestowed a temporary boost to resist Cold damage, Fire damage, and Electricity damage, Acid damage, and Magical damage.
The elemental resistance modifier value is +75%, which is cumulative with any other similar elemental resistances already present on the creature.
The maximum game-allowed damage resistance modifier for these energy resistances is 127%.
Values over 100% can heal the creature when that particular energy damage type is incurred, for example if the creature has 110% fire resistance and incurs 40 fire damage, the targeted creature can be healed 4 hit points from that damage event.
A second application of this spell will add cumulative bonuses onto the initial spell - e.g. it can be stacked with the same spell.
This spell is affected by Dispel Magic effects and can be removed with a Breach spell.
Note[]
The spell also boosts resistance to magical cold damage and magical fire damage, which are unused/unimplemented damage types in the unmodified game.
This spell can't help with Poison damage. For that the character would need a Protection From Poison scroll, or perhaps an item such as the Periapt of Proof Against Poison, for example. See the Poison or Poison damage articles.

When this spell is cast, it confers complete protection from all energy attacks composed of acid, cold, electricity, fire, or magic damage, whether magical or non-magical in origin. 100% of the energy damage from attacks with weapons, wands, breath weapons, etc. will be absorbed, and the target creature will become completely immune to the effects of energy-based spells. This effect lasts for the duration of the spell or until dispelled.
