A Potion of Strength temporarily changes the imbiber's strength to a value of 18.
The potion's effects have a duration of 4-hours (20 turns).
Description[]
| “ | This potion will give the drinker a surge of energy such that the muscles will seem to ripple and bulge, coursing with magical energy. The effect is to set the Strength of the imbiber to 18 for approximately 4 hours or until dispelled. | ” |
Gameplay[]
When the user quaffs this potion, a sound effect is heard in game, and another will be audible when the potion's duration expires. The user's portrait will display an icon (no. 21 "Strength") for the duration. Certain lighting effects and a color fade briefly render over the user after drinking the potion.
The potion provides the following effect:
- Sets the user's Strength attribute to 18.
The potion overwrites the character's current STR value and replaces it with a value of 18 - naturally, this potion is useless if the imbiber already possesses a strength value that is equal to or greater than 18.
The potion's attribute changing effect is subject to being dispelled.

Trivia[]
The Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition ruleset has no "Potion of Strength" listed in the Dungeons Masters Guide (DMG).
However, the "Potion of Strength" is added by the Encyclopedia Magica.
The PnP potion description says the user's Strength score becomes 18, and all applicable bonuses are gained immediately.
No duration is listed in the potion's entry, so in that case, the general rules of potion duration would apply and be rolled by the DM from the DMG potion table.
