The Potion of Storm Giant Strength temporarily bestows great raw physical strength, similar to that possessed by a Storm Giant - although without the mass of the creature.
The potion's effects last for 2-hours (10 turns) and is limited to only certain classes.
Description[]
| “ | This potion can be used only by warriors. When a giant strength potion is consumed, the individual gains great strength and bonuses to hit and damage while using any hand-held or thrown weapon. The effect lasts for 10 turns. | ” |
Gameplay[]
When the user quaffs this potion, a sound effect is heard in game, and another will be audible when the potion's duration expires. The user's portrait will display an icon (no. 21 "Strength") for the duration. Certain lighting effects and a color fade briefly render over the user after drinking the potion.
The potion provides the following effect:
- Sets the user's Strength attribute to 24.
The potion overwrites the character's current STR value and replaces it with a value of 24 - naturally, this potion is useless if the imbiber already possesses a strength value that is equal to or greater than 24.
The potion's attribute changing effect is subject to being dispelled.

Trivia[]
The Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition ruleset has no "Potion of Storm Giant Strength" listed in the Dungeons Masters Guide (DMG).
However, it does list a "Potion of Giant Strength".
The PnP potion's potency is not explicitly identified and has some mystery element to it for the user - and the actual strength that the potion applies is determined by the DM from a table of random results.
No duration is listed in the potion's entry, so in that case, the general rules of potion duration would apply and be rolled by the DM from the DMG potion table.
