Potions of Invisibility make the consumer invisible, but not undetectable for the other senses. The effect is the same as the second level wizard spell by the name of Invisibility. Actions related to combat will make the consumer visible once again. If these activities can be avoided, the effect will last 12 hours in-game time. This potion appears in Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate EE and Baldur's Gate II.

Gameplay[]
- Here is a list of combat and other activities which terminate the effect of the potion:
- attacking creatures, including backstabbing from thieves
- casting offensive spells or spell-like abilities
- casting a non-offensive spell or spell-like ability on another creature
- using wands
- opening containers
- picking a lock
- attempting to pickpocket a creature
- using Bard Song
- using Shaman Dance
- addressing somebody
- "Drinking" is one of the fastest actions possible, thus the act of drinking this potion works faster than casting a spell or using an item with the invisibility effect bound to it. So, this potion can be considered an "emergency method" to get out of sight immediately among enemies.
- This is also very helpful since single-target spells fail against invisible targets, if the projectile hasn't already started. Meaning if an enemy spellcaster starts targeting you with a nasty spell (e.g. Imprisonment, Flesh to Stone...), you can use this potion to turn invisible during his casting animation, and then the spell will fizzle. This does not work if the projectile for the spell is already underway, then it will always hit. Also some enemies can innately see through invisibility or will apply a True Sight at just the right time, then this strategy will not work. It also does not help against spells that target an entire area, only against single-target spells.
- Like any potion, the effects can be cancelled on everyone by Dispel Magic, and on enemies by Remove Magic. The invisibility can also be ended by the counters listed in the Invisibility article.
