Pai'Na's Lair is a small cocoon-like structure made of spider web in the midst of the Lower Tombs which are located below the Graveyard District in the city of Athkatla.
It is where the half-drow hivemaster Pai'Na breeds her arachnid companions. Four broods consisting of five Spiders each are feeding on four peasant humans - Bene, Philbert, Samar and Treddin.
Upon entering the area Pai’Na takes offence of the disturbance and attacks the party, summoning the twenty spiders to her aid. The druid is the main threat in the ensuing battle, as the spiders are low level and relatively harmless, unless they successfully poison a party member.

Pai'Na and Spider's Bane - in the Unfinished Business for BG2 mod is available for an add on quest. It adds captured/charmed humans to the area, including Bene, Philbert, Samar and Treddin. The mod can award the special item Web Sack - a kind of "wand of Webs", but more potent.
Installation of the Sword Coast Stratagems mod gives new default SCS AI scripts for the various spiders and for the Hive Master. She will have an assigned "Smarter Priest" script for better tactical spell usage, target vulnerability assessments and will self-buff via contingency at the start of hostilities. The spiders will fire their web attacks, Phase Spiders will phase shift to attack those not immune to poison first, and Sword Spiders will engage as well.
With the Spell Revisions mod, the scrolls in the niche will be a different SR variety.
