Pai'Na is a female half-drow hivemaster druid who resides in her lair which is located inside of the Spider's Nest, a large web-chamber in the center of the Lower Tombs underneath the Graveyard District. The doorway to the interior is guarded by several forms of giant spider including a Wraith Spider, a Phase Spider and a Sword Spider.
Pai'Na is found near the center of her lair and is surrounded by her unseen spider brood which is currently feeding on four peasant male humans named Bene, Philbert, Samar and Treddin. She reacts with immediate hostility upon sighting the party and calls forth the brood to protect their home. Each of the four peasants will die and a group of five spiders will appear next to each of the four dead bodies and move to attack the party. These twenty spiders must be killed quickly, as while frail, they pack a very potent venom in their bites.
When Pai'Na is killed, she will drop a Black Spider Figurine, and a hidden cache in the center of the lair conceals a Pale Green Ioun Stone and scrolls of Spider Spawn and Spell Immunity.

If the player has Unfinished Business for BG2 installed, however, Pai'Na is more diplomatic and can potentially give the player the quest Pai'Na and Spider's Bane. In this installation, a party that includes Viconia will recognize Pai'Na as a half-, rather than a full-blooded drow. As a reward for fulfilling this quest and not being hostile to her, Pai'Na provides a unique Wand, called the Web Sack.
