PLANETAR.ITM is an undroppable melee weapon used by Planetar and Dark Planetar creatures.

The attack weapon applies a 2d10 +3 Slashing damage to the target. The weapon also provides the wielder with -3 THAC0 bonus. The Planetar's strength modifier will improve the to hit chance and damage of each blow.

The weapon strikes as a +3 enchanted item for the purposes of what it can strike, but the item is also flagged as magical.

Each blow from this weapon has a 25% chance to:

Decapitate the target unless they save versus Death at a -2 penalty. If a target is killed by this ability, it suffers a "chunked" death animation, which will preclude revival of the body. Turning off the "gore" option can prevent this.

Destroy the target if it is an illusory creature, like a Project Image clone.

Apply Dispel effects on the target. The method used to code the dispel power of this item is not set to use the caster's level (which would be 25 for a Planetar), but instead assigns the level as 0. A zero value in BG2EE equates to the default caster level of 10 (the same for scrolls cast by non-Wizard/Cleric characters). Regardless, the dispel effect will always cure Deafness and Feeblemindedness on the struck creature.

These effects bypass Magic resistance and spell Power level protections.

The weapon also implements some visual effects when it strikes a creature and the dispel effect is triggered. A 3D effect is played over the target when the dispel effect is applied, as well as a text string in the combat log reading "Dispel Effects", and finally a sound effect.

If the target misses a saving throw vs. the Kill target then a Lighting graphic effect is also played on the target, and a color fade effect.

And finally, this item bestows the Planetar with its always on normal Haste effect.

The Spell Revisions mod assigns new two-handed swords to both the Planetar and Dark Planetar creatures. They have been toned down in power and have no dispelling function.
