Ogre (Mind Flayer Jailer) is a speaking NPC that interacts with the party in the Mind Flayers in Underdark area.

Ahh, you wakey wakey now, I sees? Goods! Now it time to fight!

Gameplay[]

Shortly after the entering the Mind Flayers in the Underdark complex, a cut scene animation indicates that the Illithids have been able to overcome the mental faculties of the party.

The player's group awakens in a locked cell chamber. Eventually, this Ogre opens the cell door and communicates with the party, informing them of their unfortunate situation.

There is an opportunity to ask this Ogre, who is in some kind of Jailer role (he might be a slave or servant of the mind flayers). The Ogre will first reply:

"Questions, questions, always da new fighters got the same questions. You listen then, and I tell you what you need to know."

The party finds out that they will be forced to fight for the amusement of the Illithids. The Ogre was once in the same predicament, but survived and was rewarded or promoted to the current job as a servant.

The Mind Flayers within are extra powerful due to the presence of "real big brain".

The party will have to face an arena style battle of various creatures, then placed back in the cell (with a few freely provided healing potions). An adjacent cell finds a number of Githyanki creatures, including Simyaz their leader. Through dialogue and collaboration, a plan is hatched to allow an escape attempt with the Gith's help.

During another arena battle including the party versus the Githyanki, they facilitate a chance for the party to escape from the arena - with the Gith occupying the illithids in some strange psychic battle of wills. Only one door can be opened, and the party will come face to face with the Ogre again, who now has nothing to say and attacks.

Note:Upon escaping and opening the arena door, a script removes the MINHP1.ITM from the Ogre, so that it will no longer be invulnerable

The Ogre has no melee weapon and just starts beating on the closest person it can detect. The Ogre must have some kind of psionic protection in this place, as it is extraordinarily tougher than an ordinary ogre. If defeated, no items are found on the jailer.
