Odren is a fighter cleric priest of Helm and a Knight of the Vigil. He's found in a group of knights at the foot of Watcher's Keep.

Ah! The Child of Bhaal has come! We had hoped that our call for aid would draw you here...praise to the Watcher for hearing our prayers!

Gameplay[]

He along with the other Knights of the Vigil had the task of keeping the "Imprisoned One" sealed inside Watcher's Keep.

He and the knights, not strong enough to complete the task, asked others for help - or more precisely Gorion's Ward.

When you arrive at Watcher's Keep, Odren will be waiting below the looming structure. The player must initiate dialogue. Once dialogue is underway, at some point he'll ask you to perform a ritual to fortify the seals that hold the Imprisoned One beneath the keep. If the party agrees, the knights will then escort you to the top of the fortress (in a cutscene move).

His real intentions seem clear. But more about these may be presented later, if the party undertakes the quest.

Although the game allows the player to attack Odren and the vigil knights at the first meeting and anytime afterwards, this action will result in the knight's defending themselves and shouting:

Attacked?! Come, brothers of the Vigil! We are assaulted without cause! Helm, aid us! or - Why are you attacking us?! Come, my brethren! We are betrayed!

This action will have several plot altering repercussions on many variable scripts - the results of which aren't revealed to the player ahead of time. The gist of this action will be a shuttering and closure of several potential quest paths. In essence, the intended choices available to resolve this quest will be limited. Less overall experience points, roleplay options, rewards and gameplay will be the end result. Attacking the helmites provides no beneficial outcomes, and only less than ideal consequences.

Clearly, this is a less optimal path to take, so it isn't a recommended action. Additionally, several core Bioware companions will react negatively to this action. Mazzy (and others) may become hostile or leave the party forever. In the end, it's up to the player if they wish to go full-evil mode and exact revenge on the Helmites. But you'll have to live with the decision.

If the party ends up in combat with Odren he'll have access to both Cleric and some Druidic spells, as outlined in the InfoBox's scripted spell use.

He is also a competent level 20 fighter that dual wields enchanted maces. His THAC0 is good enough to strike a superior armor class.

Mod content[]

Mods icon This section is about unofficial content that is only available via fan-made mods.

The Sword Coast Stratagems mod makes some revisions to Odren.

He is provided with a new memorized repertoire of Divine spells (no Druid spells included now). A smarter Priest AI is assigned. His initial buffs include: Blade Barrier, Armor of Faith, Magic Resistance (spell), Spiritual Hammer, Protection From Fire (priest), Righteous Magic, Physical Mirror, Shield of the Archons, and Free Action (spell).

Two ready to use potions are scripted for use to heal damage and enhance abilities.

If the Spell Revisions mod is installed, those spells will be the SR versions, such as Righteous Fury instead of Righteous Might.
