Baldur's Gate Wiki

Night Club (Night Club +1 in-game) is a unique Club +1 found in Enhanced Edition, located in a chest in Entar Silvershield's garden in Baldur's Gate. The Night Club possesses two unique qualities, the first being that it is treated as a +2 weapon for determining whether or not it can hurt enemies (no matter the time of day) and the second is that it grants its wielder an extra -1 bonus to THAC0 at night (so if this were to be used in the offhand, the mainhand weapon would also get that benefit and vice-versa).

The night time bonus to THAC0 works as an effect that lasts for 6 seconds that is cast on the character once every round (the 6⅔-second definition of a round) as long as it is night time. Like many other "do x every y seconds" effects, this is affected by the haste: In this particular case, the bonus will be applied once every 3⅓ seconds with the haste effect, allowing the character to receive a -2 bonus to THAC0 instead of the intended -1.

Description[]

This darkwood shaft surrounds a core of lead, giving it both stealth and heft. Its enchantment connects the club to the Shadow Weave, lending it greater power under cloak of night.

Bugs[]

  • The timed trigger can be messed with to obtain a +3, +4, +5 THAC0 bonus or more. It can be achieved by keeping the game unpaused and opening & closing the Record, Inventory or other screens multiple times. The 6-second duration for individual +1 bonuses appears not to advance smoothly then, yet more bonuses continue to be created on time. The stacked +1 bonuses will wear out progressively to reach normal levels soon enough after the exploit, so it isn't very practical to abuse but can be triggered accidentally. The Cloak of the Dark Moon in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition has the same bug.
