The neothelid is a gargantuan, lawful evil monster dwelling in the ruined Temple of Bhaal, hidden in the Forest of Wyrms in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear.
Involvement[]
Gorion's Ward will encounter the neothelid in the Ritual Room after getting the key to it from Ziatar. When the door is unlocked, they will witness the monster killing one of two Cyric cultists while the other one is running away in panic.
Gameplay[]
This creature is hostile and immediately attacks the party entering the Ritual Room. However, it can also move outside of that room after the party has entered. The neothelid can move under the surface where it cannot be harmed by the party, while dragging on the surface, in a radius above it, an area with poisonous emissions that can last for a while. It can summon magical swords on the floor, too, while remaining unseen below it. But it has to appear above ground if it wants to use its three attacks per round in melee combat. It can quickly switch between moving under and above ground, though. It can also cast Domination on party members, and has a poisonous breath two times available.
