A Mirror Fiend is a duplicate of any creature that looks at the Mirror of Opposition. This duplicate and any others that are created are hostile and will attack the party. The mirror is found in the Demon Knight's Chamber which is accessible from a throne room located on the labyrinth level 4 dungeon beneath Durlag's Tower.
Clair De'Lain will hail the party when they enter the throne room and provide some information on how the mirror operates.
| “ | I have heard of such things, but never thought I would be damned enough to see one. The creature was not shy about talking about it, the smug bastard. He's got a Mirror of Opposition, or something like it. All who glimpse it get duplicated and must fight themselves. If they fail, they die. If they win, they have still killed their likeness. I have heard that it sometimes drives a person mad, but I never thought... There's a slim chance, but I wouldn't survive a second in there. | ” |

"Uncovering" the mirror (by attacking it in actual gameplay) will summon the Mirror Fiends and the number of fiends summoned will correspond to the number of party members. An exact duplicate of the Demon Knight will also be summoned (see Demon Knight page for its stats).
| “ | You foolish mortal! You have exposed us all to the mirror's tainted effects! It is cracked and malfunctions! I will see you long-suffering before your death! | ” |

Duplicate Types[]
There are three different creature animations used for the duplicate party member:
- Flesh Golem for Gorion's Ward
- Ettercap for party member's 2, 4 & 5
- Greater Doppelganger for party member's 3 & 6
When the duplicates appear, the flesh golem and ettercap are blurred and the greater doppelganger isn't. The doppelganger is encased in a Globe of Invulnerability and immediately casts Shadow Door. The ettercap is also hasted, but it acts a little jerky in its movements.
They behave like typical monsters, attacking the first target sighted. However, they are given different stats or spells compared to their typical creature stats.
- Flesh Golem:
- stats are provided in the infobox for this creature due to the highest amount of differences when compared to a typical flesh golem
- Hit points raised to 115 and no XP (can't gain experience for killing yourself, even if it's a duplicate)
- drops a Two-handed Sword while a typical flesh golem drops nothing
- Ettercap:
- all stats the same as a typical ettercap except for a higher hit point total (50)
- Greater Doppelganger:
- all stats the same as a typical greater doppelganger
- no random treasure
- spells are changed
- - removed
- - added
- Shadow Door
