Baldur's Gate Wiki

This version of the Minor Spell Turning spell is an innate variety propagated from certain non-player creatures in the game, such as a few beholder species and a few dragons - it typically is applied to the creature without any casting animation or graphics and can't be disrupted or prevented by Miscast Magic effects.

When applied to the creature there will be a combat log text indicating it was cast - but the spell adds no animation or graphic effects at all, and the player won't see anything rendered on the creature's sprite to show an active spell protection.

This innate variety causes any single-target spells directed against the caster to rebound upon the original caster.

This affects a total of 4 spell levels - including spells cast from scrolls and innate spell-like abilities.

This innate spell will only affect up to 4th-level spells, but as long as there are levels remaining, a spell will be reflected. For example, if there is only 1 level left and a 3rd-level spell is directed at the caster, the spell will be reflected while canceling the Minor Spell Turning.

Unlike the wizard spell version of Minor Spell Turning, this innate version can be removed by any applicable Dispel Magic effect and cannot be removed by any spell removal Magic attack type spell (such as a Spell Thrust or Secret Word).
